From where to source to perfect pairings, everything you need for the perfect Paso Robles BBQ
This summer, bring your favorite bottles home from our DAOU Mountain tasting room and let them become the star of your next barbecue.
DAOU might be a hidden gem of the California wine scene—offering delicious, robust varietals at an attainable price point—but there’s plenty of wine to go around. This summer, bring your favorite bottles home from our DAOU Mountain tasting room and let them become the star of your next barbecue.
Anyone who is looking for the perfect summer sip can’t go wrong with our Chemin de Fleurs or Reserve Rosé, both of which have fruit-forward bouquets that taste like summer.
Whether you opt for white or rosé, these two options are refreshing with rich, fatty, or salty foods—yet acidic enough to match with tangy BBQ sauce and refresh the palate.
For a mouth-watering combination, pair your wine with a rack of pork ribs and your favorite barbecue sauce.
At DAOU, we believe in highlighting the natural flavors and quality in our wine.
If you have a hankering for a truly magnificent meal, our own Chef Spencer recommends you pick up Stepladder Ranch & Creamery’s avocado-fed pork, which is sold at the Cambria Farmers Market on Saturdays (or visit them at the ranch!).
There’s a reason why our Chef Spencer says it’s the “best pork in the world-” All this meat needs is a little salt and pepper to bring out the high quality flavors.
At DAOU, we believe in highlighting the natural flavors and quality in our wines. When you drink a DAOU wine, the complexity of the terroir is coming through the grapes and into your glass. We apply the same principle to the food we serve.
For a simple side dish that is both elegant and delicious, snag yourself some fresh, local tomatoes from the San Luis Obispo Farmers Market. Simply slice and season with salt, pepper, and DAOU’s Olive Oil for a refreshing complement to your meal.
No barbecue is complete without an icy cold beverage. And nothing is more refreshing than a completely chilled Chemin de Fleurs or Reserve Rosé:
Simply chill your bottle before uncorking—a must on those hot summer days—and pour into smaller glasses to keep your wine colder for longer.
One little tip for keeping your bottle icy cold - put it in an ice bucket or cooler with three quarters ice and one quarter water!
Enjoy!

Chef Spencer takes immense pride in his food and makes a point to source only the highest quality, local ingredients. His philosophy is to bring out the natural essence of the ingredients and play them to their strengths. It is with this passion and care that he partners with Stepladder Ranch & Creamery to source locally raised pork.
Mainly a creamery who produces small batch and artisanal cheeses from the goats they raise, your mouth will water at their incredible gold-medal winning selection of cheeses.
Along with produce and dairy products, Stepladder Ranch also raises pigs for their pork program. The pigs are mostly a blend of a couple of heritage breeds: large black, old spot, red wattle, and berkshire. They have an 8 acre pen that they generally ignore the fence of and roam freely on the ranch.
A family run business, Stepladder Ranch & Creamery welcome visitors to experience the farm (and play with the goats!) for themselves!
