For our last (but not least!) food and wine pairing, we have partnered with none other than Erin @platingsandpairings to create something special to complement our Estate Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is one of the classic Bordeaux varieties that DAOU is known for and it is an exceptional wine that is particularly refreshing during the hot summer months.

Made with grapes from DAOU Mountain, the 2020 Estate Sauvignon Blanc has an enchanting floral bouquet and is the perfect wine for an end of summer BBQ.

The 2020 DAOU Estate Sauvignon Blanc exemplifies how this classic Bordeaux variety excels on DAOU Mountain. In 2020, an exceptional vintage produced a sensational wine with a perfect balance of fruit and acidity.

The nose delivers bright citrus scents and a floral bouquet that enchants you from the glass. The palate maintains its freshness and length with impeccable purity, all leading to a luscious and seemingly endless finish.

Her recipes shine with flavor without taking all day to complete, leaving you more time to enjoy your wine and summer. ​

  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken thighs (boneless, skinless, cut into cubes)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 TBSP red wine vinegar
  • 1 1/2 TBSP honey
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely minced or pressed)
  • 1 TBSP Italian seasoning
  • 1 TBSP cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 3 lemons (sliced in half)
  • Harissa Yogurt Sauce
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 1/2 TBSP harissa paste
  • 1 1/2 TBSP lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)


Chicken Skewers:

Whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, honey, garlic, Italian seasoning, cumin and salt and pepper and pour over chicken. Marinate 30 minutes, or overnight. Meanwhile, soak wooden skewers in water. Preheat grill to high heat. Skewer the chicken on wooden or metal skewers. Place the halved lemons and chicken on the grill and cook for 3-4 min. per side, until the chicken juices run clear and the chicken and lemons are charred. Chicken should register 165-degrees on a thermometer.

Harissa Yogurt Sauce:

In a small bowl combine the yogurt, harissa and lemon juice. Season to taste with salt and pepper. . To Serve: Squeeze the charred lemons over the chicken skewers and serve with harissa yogurt sauce on the side.
