This limited-edition DAOU Pinot Noir comes from the famed Petaluma Gap AVA in Sonoma County, an emerging haven for California Pinot Noir. The 2021 vintage displays a perfumy nose of dried strawberry, cherry and rhubarb with floral notes of lavender, pine needle and rose petal. These pretty primary aromas are underlain by notes of earthy truffle and damp forest floor. On the palate, soft tannins and juicy acidity deliver flavors of black raspberry, fresh cherry, cranberry and plum, while trailing suggestions of sassafras and clove spice are accented by sandalwood and warm saddle leather. A long, lovely finish lingers with hints of toasty oak, raspberry and pomegranate.
