The 2015 Mayote showcases how Bordeaux and Rhone varieties can come together so well on DAOU Mountain. The wine presents a beautiful nose on the attack that incorporates smoked bacon, vanilla bean and spice. On the palate, it is pure and elegant with flavors of blackberry, cassis, graphite and licorice accompanied by a touch of minerality that comes from the limestone in the ground. The tannins on this wine are very well integrated with the fruit and give it a very long finish that lingers a while on the palette. While approachable now, it will benefit from a few years in the cellar.
