2019 RESERVE SEVENTEEN FORTY
Inspired by the wines of Saint-Émilion, the 2019 DAOU Reserve Seventeen Forty presents a harmonious marriage of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The nose is rich and refined, revealing scents of ripe boysenberry, fragrant plum, sweet cherry, cocoa and pomegranate. Subtle notes of crème de cassis, black olive, pencil lead and sandalwood underpin the lush fruit aromas. Flavors of blackberry, cherry, dark chocolate and espresso dominate the palate, accented by hints of truffle, tobacco leaf and dried flowers. This wine is beautifully structured, with supple tannins that provide the backbone for a long, vibrant finish of black plum, currant, loganberry and mocha. While eminently approachable now, this 2019 vintage will reward careful cellaring for years to come.
2018 ESTATE MAYOTE
The name Mayote is a tribute to the mother of Georges and Daniel Daou, signifying her enduring love and strength. Each year, this powerful blend showcases the synergy between Bordeaux and Rhône varieties grown on DAOU Mountain. True to form, the 2018 vintage boasts an opaque purple-black color with explosive aromas of violet, lilac, boysenberry, black cherry and blackberry pie. The palate delivers prodigious flavors of black and blue fruits with hints of vanilla bean, pencil shaving, licorice, cigar ash and chocolate-covered cherries. The tannins are silky and well integrated, allowing the wine’s beautiful freshness and complexity to resonate across a long, enduring finish.
2019 RESERVE EYE OF THE FALCON
The 2019 DAOU Reserve Eye of the Falcon is a joyous marriage of two beloved Bordeaux varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The nose offers vivid aromas of blackberry, cassis, bing cherry and saddle leather. Subtle notes of mulberry, kirsch, pencil shavings and milk chocolate are accented by crushed dried flowers and a suggestion of mint. On the palate, a torrent of juicy, concentrated fruit flavors includes boysenberry, plum, black currant and blueberry, all graced by hints of sage, sandalwood and black raspberry. The mouthfeel is layered, harmonious and firmly structured with a silky texture. Bright fruit ultimately yields to richer layers of exotic spice, cigar box and fennel, concluding with a long, elegant finish.
